TrustedSources: College Admissions Scandal

In this LibGuide you will find resources related to the college admissions scandal.

A 2016 Pew Research Center study showed that 62% of adults get their news via social media. Quite often these stories are presented as news without meeting basic journalistic standards, from verifiable sourcing to careful research, to misrepresenting objectivity as a means of promoting an agenda. In the preamble to the American Library Association’s Code of Ethics, it is written, “In a political system grounded in an informed citizenry, we are members of a profession explicitly committed to intellectual freedom and the freedom of access to information.” It is with that sentiment that we offer the TrustedSources series to focus on topical issues of the day, drawing on a variety of recognized and credible sources (including news coverage, editorials, and op-eds), and curating them by topic, allowing a curious citizen to explore the issues of our time and come to their own conclusions.
