An Unexpected Success
Slaughterhouse-Five was published in 1969 to great acclaim, spending sixteen weeks on the New York Times best seller list and going through five printings within the first three months of publication. However, not everyone was so enthusiastic. Listed as the 46th most-banned book of the 21st century, it was cited by its critics for, among other things, being depraved, immoral, psychotic, vulgar, and anti-Christian.
