ICPSR

ICPSR Overview

The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) is a data repository hosted by the University of Michigan that supports researchers, instructors, students and policy makers who:

  • Conduct secondary research
  • Preserve and share primary research data
  • teach and study statistical methods
  • Develop funding proposals for grants that require a data management plan.

Through its membership in ICPSR, RWU students and faculty have immediate access to a searchable archive of social science data suitable for undergraduate and graduate instructional use as well as for basic research.

RWU Researchers may also apply to deposit their data for archiving in ICPSR.

Data holdings cover a wide range of areas including: population, economics, education, health, social & political behavior and attitudes, history, crime, aging, substance abuse.

It is important to note that ICPSR data sets are designed for conducting statistical analysis, not for looking up specific statistics. For specific statistical information, consult the Libraries' Finding Data & Statistics guide.
