Search/Compare Variables - Users can examine and compare variables across data sets, studies, and series.  Enter a query to search for variables and questions. There are over 5 million variables, representing about 76% of ICPSR's holdings that have quantitative data described in statistical syntax.

After locating a dataset, users can click on its title to see the Study's Home Page which contains key study information:

• Project Description including a summary, methodology, scope, and version history
• Variables 
• Data Files for download
• Data Related Publications - published articles, reports, etc. that use data held in the ICPSR data archive.
• Metadata
• How to Cite the Study

Many studies can be analyzed online using Survey Documentation and Analysis (SDA) software without downloading datasets for use with statistical packages. SDA lets users create statistical tables and charts from data, browse the codebook , produce summary statistics for reports, and perform sophisticated analysis.  Look for Analyze Online links on Study Home Pages.

As a member institution, RWU users can download data files after setting up a MyData account on ICPSR (see Create an ICPSR account).
