Teaching Online Course for RWU Faculty

Are you scheduled to teach online or blended courses? Instructional Design offers a self-paced, fully online course that weaves together the pedagogy and technical skills for teaching a high-quality online course. This  8 week course runs periodically throughout the year.  For more information, contact Kevin O'Rourke.

In this course, you’ll build your own course as you move through the assignments and have at least the first two weeks of your course by the end. Also, you will revise your course syllabus to be aligned with your course outcomes and to be more learner centric!

  • Employing “Best Practices” for online learning within your course.

  • Rewriting and structuring your syllabus to be more outcome aligned and learner centric.

  • Constructing an aligning Assignments, Activities Assessments and the Gradebook.

  • Evaluating and employing new teaching methods.

  • Creating a series of “Authentic assessments” for your course.

We’ll also get you up to speed on how to use:

  • Using Panopto for your own presentations, providing learners feedback and for learner’s use.

  • Meetings/Zoom tool, for synchronous classes on bad weather days, to bring in a guest lecturer or presenter from a remote location, Virtual Office Hours or for Learner Team meetings during none classroom hours.

  • The using the Forum tool to create Learner Journals

  • The use of the Student Page within Lessons.

  • Reacquainting you with Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy
